MORE ABOUT FREDERICK:
PHILOSOPHY
AND PRACTICE
Frederick fosters a creative, collaborative relationship with his clients. He listens closely to their goals and aspirations. An open exchange of ideas facilitates the creation of an elegant, refined, cohesive design that exceeds the client's expectations.
Frederick calls upon his extensive network of workers, craftsmen, and suppliers to execute all aspects of a project. His years of experience and his good working relationships with these talented resources promote the smooth execution of a job with exceptional results.
Frederick grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. From an early age, he absorbed his extended family's appreciation for excellence in design, period furnishings, and decor. He grew up surrounded by the family's fine pieces collected over generations. His aunt's antique shop was a respected source for the city's best designers and antiquarians. There he was tutored by his aunt in the significance of each piece.
His early background, his Architectural studies at Tulane University and the influences of the renowned design firms for which he has worked (see below), have helped make Frederick well versed in a range of design styles from traditional to transitional and modern. His aesthetic is influenced by his studies of the history of design. He is particularly inspired by the elegant simplicity of Ancient Greece and Rome, of Italian and French Neoclassicism and of the modern classicism of Eileen Gray, Jean Michael Frank, and Mies Van Der Rohe.

PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT
Frederick earned a Masters in Architecture from Tulane University. He studied the history of architecture from ancient to modern eras. The school focused especially on the Bauhaus/International School and Post Modernism. While in New Orleans he also spent numerous hours exploring the plethora of historical homes and fine antique shops.
Following graduation, Frederick moved to Manhattan to work for Michael De Santis. There he excelled at designing in the sophisticated, contemporary aesthetic of that office.
Frederick was then recruited to work for the firm of Valerian Rybar. In that office, Mr. Mayer worked on the Cafe Pierre, The Hotel Plaza Athenee in New York, and the New York residence of Meryl Streep.
For over 15 years Frederick worked with Eleanor Leonard Associates, designing and supervising projects in New York City, the Hamptons, Oyster Bay, Sands Point, and Roslyn, New York, Miami Beach and Palm Beach Gardens, and Atlanta, Georgia.
Frederick's own projects have included residences in New York on 5th Avenue, Park Avenue, and Central Park West. His projects also include residences in East Hampton, Oyster Bay, and Roslyn New York as well as projects in Boca Raton and Miami Beach, Florida.
